Overview

The briefing session offers an opportunity to discover more about the mentoring scheme, to receive some training on mentoring skills, and an opportunity to network with other members of SEB.  You will be asked to complete a full registration form after attending the briefing.  Once you are matched you will also receive a starter pack to support your mentoring partnership.

SEB Mentoring Scheme

Following the success of the Centenary Mentoring Scheme (2022-2023), the Society for Experimental Biology is relaunching its one-to-one mentoring scheme for 2024-2025.

Mentoring is a practice that supports people to attain results that really matter to them.  Mentees from the 2022-23 scheme reported the scheme helped them with their career progression, and grant writing, as well as gaining fresh perspectives.  For mentors, participating in the scheme helped them understand the challenges of early career researchers and enhanced their professional development.

You are invited to attend the briefing session for the 2024-2025 mentoring scheme.  This session will provide key information about the scheme, enable networking with other members of SEB, and help you gain skills and knowledge to underpin effective mentoring practice.

  • Session 1: 23rd September from 9:30 am to 11:30 am (UK time)
  • Session 2: 4th October from 15:00 pm to 17:00 pm (UK time)
  • On-demand: If you are unable to attend the briefing session, a video recording will be made available to you.

At the end of the session, if you wish to participate in the mentoring scheme, you will be given a form to express your interests and topic areas, which will assist us in matching you with a suitable mentor or mentee. Should you decide not to participate after the briefing session, you will have the option to opt-out.
