Dr. Anne Todgham

Talk title: When is enough, enough? Incorporating environmental complexity into physiology experiments 

Dr. Anne Todgham is a Full Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Animal Science at the University of California Davis.  Anne earned her B.Sc. in Marine Biology at the University of Guelph, Canada and her Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Anne held a National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada postdoctoral fellowship at UC Santa Barbara before joining the faculty at San Francisco State University in 2009.

She has been a Professor at UC Davis since Fall 2013. Anne is an environmental physiologist with an interest in understanding the biochemical, physiological and behavioural strategies animals use to cope with environmental change. Currently her research program has an eye towards global climate change and addresses the general question of whether aquatic animals have the physiological flexibility necessary to withstand the unprecedented rates of anthropogenic change. 

She, her students and her postdocs are trying to understand how effective fishes and shellfish are at multi-tasking the various energetic demands placed by different stressors in the context of conservation physiology and sustainable aquaculture.
