Join us from 6th to 8th May, for an interactive online workshop designed to help researchers deliver confident and impactful scientific presentations.
In this 2-part online interactive workshop, participants will be able to apply the templates, techniques and learnings to design, develop and deliver presentations from scratch, and to improve their ability to deliver scientific presentations to peers, colleagues and others. As a side benefit, many of the skills we cover are useful transferrable skills.
Part 1
6 May | 12:30 - 3:30 pm (UK time)
- Barriers to effective presentations and how to overcome them.
- Feedback: giving and receiving.
- Individual presentation styles.
- What we expect from scientific presentations.
- Audience & message.
- A simple presentation structure.
- Visual communication and a process for designing slides.
Part 2
8 May | 12:30 - 2:30 pm (UK time)
- Recap of previous session.
- Delivery skills: voice, non-verbals, gestures.
- In person vs online: how to shine in any situation.
- Dealing with nerves.
- The 2-minute practice.
- Peer-reviewed (short) presentations.
- Reflections and planning for ongoing improvement.
Be aware! This workshop will be delivered via Zoom and won't be recorded.
